Peach Variety Year Planted Ripening Order Description
Redhaven: 1999 1 Historically predominant variety of Michigan, the earliest ripening peach worth putting up.
Newhaven: 1999 2 A variant of Redhaven, ripening three days later.
Regina: 1985 3 First planted in 1985 at our farm, the Regina’s planted on plum rootstock have outstanding flavor and eating qualities.
Blazingstar: 2004 4 Stellar peach from Michigan with great flavor
Bellaire: 1995 5 Flavorful peach from Michigan
Glohaven: 1995 6 First mid season variety, good flavor
John Boy I & II: 2006 7 Eastern varieties related to Loring with great flavor, less color. Not grown in scale in Colorado
June Pride: 2006 8 Fantastic flavored peach that sets very little fruit. Non-commercial variety that is a local favorite.
Loring: 1983 9 First variety we planted in 1983. Chosen and maintained for its flavor and quality. Disdained by supermarkets for it's lack of red coloring, but asked for by name at our farmers' markets.
Suncrest: 1985 10 The predominant peach from California during the 60's and 70's. In best selling book "Epitaph for a Peach", Mas Masumoto describes his mission to save a Suncrest orchard.
Red Globe: 1994 11 An old relative of J.H Hale, as challenging to grow, but with great flavor, perhaps the best of the midseason.
Cresthaven: 1984 12 A popular peach in Colorado -perfectly adapted. Beautiful, red color, great flavor and texture. Great eating, canning and freezing (some red around the pit).
Glowingstar: 2004 13 Very red variety that ripens with Cresthaven. Firmer texture.
Elberta: 2004 14 Classic peach that was the Colorado peach for 70 years, a rarity now. Yellow color with a mild blush, great texture and canning quality
J.H. Hale: 1994 15 Named after the dominant peach grower in 19th century Georgia. Difficult to grow, needs cross-pollination. Large size, beautiful skin and sublime texture. Very red around the pit.
O'henry: 2004 16 California's replacement of Suncrest. Solid quality. Ripens late with good result in Colorado.
